Autism and Sensory Difference - a free training day for parents and unpaid carers.
Autism Wellbeing CIC are providing a free training day on Autism and Sensory Difference. Parents of autistic children and young people - with or without a diagnosis - can attend the training in Carmarthen, Haverfordwest or Aberystwyth.

Our training draws extensively on autistic lived experience and offers insights that shed light on what it might feel like to be an autistic child.
Recent training days have received highly positive feedback:
“The training sessions you delivered for parents and carers were excellent. Parents gained a huge amount of insight and understanding from the sessions. For some of them this was quite an emotional moment when they felt they understood aspects of their own children for the first time. The sessions were focussed on understanding autism from the perspective of the autistic person and what their families and friends can do to adapt life to better meet the needs of the autistic people they care about. I really feel that these sessions gave participants a new perspective on autism with a focus on supporting autistic people’s wellbeing."
Emma and Rorie from Autism Wellbeing CIC are putting on a series of free Connection Workshops for autistic adults aged 21+ and for younger adults aged 16 - 21. You can attend our Connection Workshops in Carmarthen, Haverfordwest or Aberystwyth. A formal diagnosis is not required.
You are invited to express interest in participating in our Connection Workshops. There are limited places (six individuals per workshop) and places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Before being offered a place, you will be asked to complete a simple application form.
The Connection Workshops take place on a Saturday and Sunday morning and we ask that you make sure that you are able to attend both workshops as the second one builds on and consolidates ground covered in the first one. Each workshop lasts three hours, from 10am to 1pm. You can take a break as and when you need to.
Our workshops are relaxed, informal and low key - you are encouraged to do the things you need to do in order to feel regulated and safe. There will be a variety of drinks on offer as well as plenty of biscuits.
The workshops are an opportunity for you to meet and spend time with other autistic people in a setting that is safe and where each person’s way of being in the world is respected.
Each workshop will have a particular theme:
Connection Workshop 1:
Understanding Sensory Processing - My Sensory Profile
-
Learn about sensory processing and the sensory differences that are part of being autistic.
-
Learn about how your body responds to your environment and how your survival responses may differ from those of people who are not autistic.
-
Create your own sensory profile that describes your own sensory differences and gives insights into how you perceive the world through your senses.
Connection Workshop 2:
Self-regulation, Co-regulation and Strategies for Wellbeing
-
Learn about the Just Right State and about the principles of self-regulation and co-regulation.
-
Learn about feel-good actions and create your own feel-good strategy.
